Getting started

Today I started this blog. The hope is to keep track of all my work as I create my SCA Persona. I've been part of the SCA for over 3 years, and still really have not picked much more than the area I wish to be from. I decided to finally get crackin' on this. I'm hoping to have a name picked out before I ever get any awards. My husband has already picked his name, and recieved his AoA.

Also, hopefully this blog will help new SCA members with their personas. I've found many sites out there that give you a very basic run down on how to create a persona, but not much help otherwise. I'm trying to figure out how to get info on this, in my little city of Colorado Springs. The library and the internet are not as useful as I'd like, especially with the internet not always being reliable.

I know where to begin: What area of the world would I like to be from? This came from my previous work in college with Bellydance. I've chosen the Middle East. But this is a very big area to cover, and not as well known as Europe. Part of that stems from their oral tradition. Due to this, many things have been lost over time, or have been shown to "outsiders. " But I love Bellydance and am very interested in the other aspects of the Middle Eastern culture. Thus, this is where my persona is from.

I still don't know the time frame, except earlier period rather than later. I'm not into the renaissance period as much. But a more specific time frame is still in the works.

I think I've found a name, but I'm not willing to post it here, yet, as I have sent a request to St. Gabriel to help me with the research. Again, resources here are very limited. If the name seems to be ok, then I'll post it here. I'd love to have a name passed through the Heralds, but that is a bit far away at the moment.

So here's to the process of discovering my SCA persona......
